What do FEMA first responders, hikers on isolated trails and USAID workers in remote villages all have in common?

They all need effective off-grid power solutions to do their jobs. Today their reach is limited by their ability to bring heavy and expensive generators and batteries with them.

The 2016 Foundry Cup seeks to untether our men and women working in the toughest places by identifying commercial products that allow individuals to generate, store and conserve energy.

We are looking for ideas that will:

DECREASE GOVERNMENT SPENDING

SAVE AND IMPROVE LIVES

REDUCE CARBON FOOTPRINT

The Department of Defense uses 12.6 million gallons of oil a day in the U.S.

3,000 Americans were killed or injured in Iraq and Afghanistan transporting fuel.
